By Fakhri Vakilov-Trend:

By July 1, 2020, Uzbekistan is expected to develop a mechanism of state intervention in the grain market, as stated in the draft Strategy for the Development of Agriculture for 2020-2030, Trend reports citing regulation.gov.uz portal.

According to the draft strategy, it provides for introduction of a wheat procurement mechanism based on a quota determined by the state and financed on the basis of purchases at market prices; phasing out state regulation of prices for agricultural products and food; and restructuring of the strategic food reserve based on an audit to bring the rules of interventions to market conditions.

In addition, it is expected that the state will limit the practice of placing crops by applying it only to cotton and grains.

The draft document was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan.
