Azerbaijan's TOP-5 trade partners in January-August 2019

In January-August 2019, the trade turnover of Azerbaijan with its five main trade partners amounted to $11.51 billion or 50.25 percent of its total trade, Trend reports referring to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

Italy retained the status of Azerbaijan's largest trading partner with a turnover of $4.1 billion and a share of 17.97 percent. Italy is followed by Turkey - $2.7 billion (11.85 percent), Russia - $1.68 billion (7.98 percent), China - $1.5 billion (6.74 percent) and Switzerland - $1.3 billion (5.71 percent).

During the reported period, the highest value of Azerbaijan's imports accounted for Russia with $1.4 billion (14.61 percent). It is followed by Switzerland - $1.2 billion (12.74 percent), Turkey - $975 million (10.39 percent), China - $850 million (9.06 percent) and the US - $589 million (4.96 percent). The share of these countries in the total imports of Azerbaijan was 53.03 percent.

Italy was again the main importer of Azerbaijani products during the reported period. Italy accounted for $3.9 billion (28.63 percent) of all Azerbaijani exports. Next come Turkey - $1.7 billion (12.86 percent), Israel - $953.9 million (7.06 percent), India - $761.5 million (5.63 percent) and China - $693.7 million (5.13 percent). The share of these countries in the total exports of Azerbaijan was 59.31 percent.

In general, during the reported period, foreign trade operations of Azerbaijan increased by almost 16 percent compared to the same period in 2018 and amounted to $22.9 billion.

The positive balance during the reported period amounted to $4.1 billion, which is 45.4 percent less compared to the same period last year ($6 billion).
