Iran's Gotvand Dam on the Karun River does not require rehabilitation, its water outflow is being measured, said the head of Iran Water and Power Resources Development Company (IWPC), Behrouz Moradi.
"Mahabghods Company is monitoring the Gotvand Dam as the project consultant, while Khuzestan Water and Power Organization is constantly measuring the quality of the water flow," said Moradi, Trend reports citing IRNA.
"The upper Gotvand Dam, is the last dam constructed on Karun river to control the floods. It produces 4,250 gigawatt hours energy a year. The early studies have been done before the Islamic revolution by foreign consultants and after revolution it was in operation by domestic and foreign consultants," he indicated.
Moradi went on to say that the officials have been conducting the water quality study.
"The 85 percent of stored water in the dam reservoir has optimal quality, therefore there is no threat for downstream," he indicated.
