The number of individual enterprises, entrepreneurs, tenants, private households, involved in the cultivation of fruits and vegetables, has grown up to 2,500 in Turkmenistan, Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper wrote referring to the Turkmen Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs.
A record big crop of fruits and vegetables has been harvested in the private sector of the Turkmen economy this year, Trend reports.
Some 8,000 hectares of land accounted for gardens, where about eight million fruit trees were planted.
Elite types of peach, pear, apricot, cherry, almond trees have been planted on a 1,600 hectare-area since February.
The areas accounting for grapes greatly increased. Five million grape bushes have been planted this year.
Agricultural producers combine agricultural innovations and the best traditions of land use, use modern methods of irrigation, cultivate varieties adapted to the local soil and climatic conditions.
As a result, the crop yields range from 150 to 200 tons of fruits and grapes per hectare.
