A solar park with the capacity of 50 MW has been constructed in Agadyr settlement of Shet district of Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region, Trend reports with reference to the press office of regional akimat (administrative center).

Thus, Karaganda region is now among leading regions of the country by existing renewable energy sources.

The solar park takes up the territory of 125 ha. Powerful substations and 150,000 solar panels have been installed there. The Akadyr park has been constructed via private investment of German Solarnet Investment GmbH company. The cost of the construction amounted to 55 million euro.

The solar park is already producing 25 MW of energy an hour. The agreement to increase the capacity to 76 MW has been reached.

In the beginning of the year, the akimat of Karaganda region signed the agreement with European investors on the development of alternative energy sector. This is to prduce another 500 MW of energy and receive 500 million euro of direct foreign investors in the future.

There already are two solar parks in Karaganda region: one in Saran city and another in Gulshat settlement. Taken together, these three sources will be producing nearly 200 MW of ‘green’ energy.
