Turkmenistan's foreign trade turnover grows

In the first nine months of 2019, the volume of foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan, according to expectations, will amount to $11 billion, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said at a meeting of the Turkmen Parliament, Trend reports citing Turkmend media.

"This figure is 3.8 percent more compared to the same period in 2018," the head of state added.

In order to increase economic power and increase the country's potential, a large-scale program is underway to build and modernize enterprises focused on expanding the range of products supplied abroad. As a result, the export volume in comparison with the corresponding period of the last year has grown by 8.4 percent.

The foreign trade turnover of Turkmenistan in 2018 amounted to $16,973.8 million.

The trade surplus during this period amounted to $6,328 million. Imports of goods compared to 2017 decreased by 47.8 percent, a report of the State Statistics Committee of the country said.

Turkmenistan maintains foreign trade relations with 107 countries of the world. Some of the key exporting partners are China, Italy, Afghanistan, Turkey and the UAE.

Turkmenistan mainly imports goods from Turkey, the UAE, China, Germany and Russia.
