Kazakhstan, Mongolia looking into cooperating in meat processing

Mongolia and Kazakhstan are interested in implementation of joint projects in development of meat processing and creation of sheep-breeding clusters in Kazakhstan, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture.

This was announced during the meeting between Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov and Mongolian Minister of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry Chultem Ulaan.

According to Omarov, Mongolia is an important trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan in area of agriculture, especially in the field of beef cattle and sheep breeding.

Thus, meat processing projects on the basis of Semipalatinsk meat processing plant and the projects on sheep-breeding cluster Steppe Sheep in Karaganda region are being discussed.

Omarov also highlighted that the ministry is ready to develop cooperation with Mongolia in conducting zoning and obtaining the status of a country/zone free from foot-and-mouth disease, which will allow to implement exchange of farm animals in the future.

Trade turnover of agriculture goods between Kazakhstan and Mongolia amounted to $24 million during first seven months of 2019, including export from Kazakhstan to Mongolia worth $23.8 million and import worth $187,300.
