Chinese investors will build a plant for the production of float glass in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing data from Uzbekistan’s Agency for Attracting Foreign Investment.
The plant construction is envisaged by a memorandum signed between the Chinese Tashkent Zhuo Yuan Development company and the administration of the Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan. The total investment from Chinese partners will exceed $10 million, which will be invested in the form of cash or the necessary equipment and technologies.
After the development and approval of all the necessary documentation for the project, the Syrdarya region’s administration will provide all necessary assistance regarding the selection of a suitable site for the construction and establishment of production lines, and the facilitation of customs and other procedures, read the message.
Syrdarya region was not accidentally chosen for this project, as it has the necessary reserves of quartz-containing raw materials for the creation of high-tech production, said the agency.
The production of float glass was first established in the world in the early 50s of the last century, and to this day is one of the most popular technologies for the production of flat glass, which is of high quality with large dimensions.
Currently, the glass industry in Uzbekistan is one of the most developing and demand for its products is growing rapidly. The manufactured glass products are supplied to the domestic market and exported to neighboring countries such as Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Afghanistan.
