Kazakhstan sees increase of current accounts value

Value of current accounts in Kazakhstan’s second tier banks amounted to 4.942 trillion tenge ($12.7 billion) as of October 1, 2019, which is six percent more than last month, Trend reports with reference to the data of Kazakhstan’s National Bank.

The largest value of current accounts is observed in Almaty city (2.322 trillion tenge or $5.9 billion). Almaty is followed by Nur-Sultan city (938.5 billion tenge or $2.4 billion) and Mangystau region (211.7 billion tenge or $466.01 million), bank reports.

Legal entities in Kazakhstan prefer foreign currency denominated current accounts, whereas physical entities prefer tenge denominated current accounts.

Out of the total value of legal entities current accounts, 1.807 trillion tenge (approximately $4.6 billion, increase of 5.4 percent) worth of sum accounts for tenge denominated accounts, whereas other 2.096 trillion tenge (approximately $5.4 billion, increase of 8.7 percent) account for foreign currency denominated accounts.

In turn, 819.7 billion tenge (approximately $2.1 billion, increase of 3.4 percent) account for tenge denominated accounts of physical entities, whereas 218.06 billion tenge (approximately $562.3 million, decrease of 4.4 percent).
