Qatar’s national air carrier to launch direct flights to Kazakhstan this year

Qatar Airways company, which is a Qatar’s national airline will launch flights to Kazakhstan before the end of the current year, Trend reports with reference to the press office of the Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee.

Today, on November 8, 2019 aviation authorities of Kazakhstan and Qatar held negotiations in Qatar’s capital Doha.

Following the end of negotiation the legal framework for implementation the regular flights seven times a week between Nur-Sultan and Doha, seven flights week between Almaty and Doha and seven cargo flights a week was signed.

According to senior Vice President of Qatar Airways Fathi Atti, first flights between Nur-Sultan and Doha are to be launched in December of this year. The launch of the flights will allow passengers from Kazakhstan to travel to 160 destinations around the world.

Previously this year, President of Kazakhstan Kassym Jomart Tokayev has ordered to increase a number of international flights implemented from Nur-Sultan.

According to Tokayev, currently the number of direct international flights operated from country’s capital Nur-Sultan does not exceed 30 routes, which is not enough.

Furthermore, Kazakhstan's Minister of Industry and Infrastructural Development of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov said that Qatar Airways (Doha city, 2020), Emirates (Dubai, 2021), China Eastern (Shanghai, 2021), Ural Airlines, Pobeda and other aircompanies are to start operating in Kazakhstan.
