Uzbekistan opens first textile trading house in USA

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 11

The first trading house selling branded carpets of the Uzbekistan’s “SAG” textile company was opened in the city of Philadelphia in the US state of Pennsylvania, Trend reports citing the press service of Uzbekistan’s Embassy in the United States.

Its opening was announced at the Uzbek-American business forum, held at the end of Oct. 2019 in Washington.

The opening ceremony of the trading house was attended by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to the US Javlon Vahobov and the chairman of Uzbekistan’s Uztextile Association Ilkhom Khaidarov.

The trading house will allow selling high-quality and competitive Uzbek carpets on the US market. Moreover, exhibitions and fairs of Uzbek manufacturers’ textile products will be held here on an ongoing basis.

SAG company has been operating in Samarkand since 2000, annually releasing 12 million sq.m. carpet products. Its products are exported to the markets of Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Afghanistan, Ukraine, China and European countries.

Products worth over $115,000 were delivered to the new trading house; two containers of carpet products from Uzbekistan were additionally shipped. Product supply contracts have already been concluded with the states of New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland and the District of Columbia.

Moreover, the Gulnor trading house of the famous Uzbekistan artisan Gulnara Odilova from Shakhrisabz was already registered in Philadelphia also with the assistance of Uzbekistan’s Embassy in the United States. Its opening will take place before the end of the year. Silk textiles and Shakhrisabz embroideries in the Iroki style will be sold there.
