Animal husbandry production up in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan’s gross production output in animal husbandry increased by 3.9 percent, including meat production increased by 5.5 percent, milk by 3.2 percent, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov said, Trend reports with reference to the press office of Kazakh prime minister.

He noted that the growth in animal husbandry production is related to successful implementation of lending programs in the sector.

“During 10 months of 2019, 806 households received lending for the purchase of 78,900 heads of cattle compared to 412 households purchased 39,100 heads during the same period of last year,” he said.

Furthermore, 954 farms received lending for the purchase of small cattle stock in the amount of 337,400 heads, which is compared to an increase of 223,900 heads and 624 farms during the same period of last year.

Furthermore, three industrial dairy complexes with a total number of 1,600 heads and eight family dairy farms for 712 heads put into operation since the beginning of the year.

Three feedlots for 15,000 heads were launched. Food production increased by 2.1 percent, drinks - by 13.9 percent during the reporting period.

“In order to expand export, the Ministry of Agriculture is systematically working to align the phytosanitary and veterinary requirements of the importing countries,” said Omarov.

To date, 19 types of agricultural products have already gained access to the Chinese market. These are beef, lamb, live horses, fish, honey, wheat, wheat bran, soybeans, alfalfa, rapeseed meal, barley, corn, wheat flour, dairy products, wool raw materials, flax seeds, pork, wheat feed meal.

New markets in Iran and the United Arab Emirates for lamb, beef, live cattle and small horned livestock for slaughter, food eggs, the European Union for fish, oilseeds and feed, Saudi Arabia for live cattle and small cattle for slaughter were also opened. Bahrain market opened for beef and lamb.

As a result, the export volume of agricultural products for eight months of 2019 amounted to $2.04 billion, which is nine percent more compared to the same period in 2018.
