Russia leading in number of companies working in Uzbekistan

Since the beginning of 2019, 414 Russian companies have been established in Uzbekistan, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

In recent years, the volume of Russian investment in Uzbekistan has grown significantly. In total, as of Nov. 1, 2019, 1,776 enterprises with Russian capital are operating in Uzbekistan, among which 1,096 companies were established as joint ventures and 680 as foreign ones.

The share of Russian enterprises in relation to companies with total foreign capital in Uzbekistan is 17.8 percent, which is the highest indicator among the countries represented. Kazakhstan is on the second place (7.7 percent).

The main activities of Russian companies created this year were industry (30.7 percent of established enterprises), trade (29.2 percent), construction (11.4 percent), and agriculture (8 percent).

In the period from Jan. through Oct. 2019, 372 enterprises were formed in the country with investments attracted from Turkey, 491 - with participation of Chinese investors, 278 companies were created through funds from Kazakh investors, and 186 - through investors from South Korea.

Representatives of business circles of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, India, Germany, Ukraine and other countries also showed interest in establishing joint ventures in Uzbekistan this year.

In the first nine months of 2019, enterprises with foreign investment in Uzbekistan manufactured products worth $7.5 billion. The share of products of enterprises with foreign capital amounted to 30.3 percent in the total volume of production.

In the total output, the share of enterprises with foreign investment in the mining industry and quarrying amounted to 26.5 percent, and to 73.4 percent in manufacturing industry, reads the message.

Official statistics say that the number of enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan for the nine months of 2019 increased to 9,732.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises with foreign investment increased by 2,772 or by 39.8 percent. The bulk of enterprises with foreign capital belong to Russia, Turkey, China, South Korea and Kazakhstan, read the message.
