Number of established enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan up by almost 40%

From January through October 2019, the number of enterprises with foreign investment increased by 2,830 or by 39.6 percent compared to the same period last year, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s State Statistics Committee.

Official statistics recorded that the number of enterprises with foreign capital in Uzbekistan in ten months of 2019 increased to 9,985.

The bulk of enterprises with foreign capital belong to Russia (1,776), China (1,564), Turkey (1,218), South Korea (791) and Kazakhstan (766), read the message.

According to the Committee, as of Sept. 1, 2019, the city of Tashkent accounts for 5,917 operating enterprises with foreign capital. The other three regions that are preferred for foreign capital include the Tashkent region, with 1,099 enterprises with foreign capital, Samarkand - 516, and the Fergana region with 398 of such enterprises.

According to the State Statistics Committee, 4,993 enterprises with foreign capital are joint ventures, 4,992 are foreign.

The bulk of operating enterprises with foreign capital is in industry (36.1 percent) and trade (24.5 percent).

From Jan. through Oct. 2019, 2,804 enterprises with the participation of foreign capital were re-created in Uzbekistan. Over 63 percent of them fall on the capital city of Tashkent (1,522) and the Tashkent region (257 enterprises). A significant part of these 2,804 enterprises fall on traditional partners - Russia, China, Turkey, South Korea and Kazakhstan, read the message.

The State Statistics Committee report contains statistics on joint ventures and foreign enterprises operating in Uzbekistan with the CIS countries. According to the Committee, 3,401 such enterprises operate in the country.

Russia has the main share of 17.8 percent of such enterprises, followed by Kazakhstan with 7.7 percent, Azerbaijan - 1.7 percent, Kyrgyzstan - 1.5 percent and Tajikistan -1.5 percent.

Furthermore, there are 141 enterprises in Uzbekistan with the participation of Turkmen business, 122 - Ukrainian, 69 - Belarusian, 31 - Armenian entrepreneurs and 22 - with the participation of businessmen from Moldova.
