Iran discloses export volume of dates

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Nov. 15

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran exports dates worth $300 million annually, Iran's Deputy Minister in Trade Affairs Hossein Modares Khiabani told reporters in Bushehr province.

“Iran produces 1.2 million tons of dates a year,” Khiabani added, Trend reports referring to Tasnim News Agency.

The deputy minister added that 25 percent of that amount is exported.

He added that the export share of dates, pistachios, saffron and carpets used to be big, but it has been on a decline

"Taking into account the quality of the Iranian dates, the export volume must increase," Khiabani said.

The deputy minister added that 15 countries around Iran are the priority countries in the export of dates.

Khiabani added that the export of Iran's non-oil products from March 21 through September 22 reached $24.5 billion, which is 17 percent more compared to the same period of last year.
