Uzbekistan’s interested ministries and departments have developed forecast indicators for the balance of cement production and consumption for 2020, based on the needs (14 million tons) of economic sectors and consumer demand, Trend reports citing Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Industry.
According to the official forecast, the expected production of knitting building materials in Uzbekistan will be more than 13.4 million tons, of which over 9.3 million will be produced by enterprises of Uzbekistan’s Uzstroymaterials Association of building materials, more than 2.4 million by Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex (MMC), and 1.6 million tons by other organizations.
Non-centralized imports are expected to reach 790,000 tons of cement next year. Moreover, 802,000 tons will be exported.
Next year, each cement plant will launch production of aerated concrete blocks, dry building mixes, finished reinforced concrete products and other products with high added value.
The key players in Uzbekistan’s cement market currently include Kizilkumcement, Almalyk MMC, Akhangarantsement, Bekabadcement and Kuvasaycement. In the coming years, two more large enterprises will be added to them.
Since last fall, a new cement plant with a capacity of 2.4 million products per year and a project cost of $420 million has been built in the Kattakurgan district of the Samarkand region with the participation of investors from China - Gansu Hengya Cement Co LTD.
Another Chinese company, Huaxin Cement, is building a new cement plant in Zafarabad district of Jizzakh region with a total value of $150 million and a capacity of 1.2 million tons of products per year. It is planned that the new facility will be commissioned in December 2019.
In 2018, according to Mirkhamid Turaev, the analyst of the Institute for Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research under the Ministry of Economic Development, cement production per person in Uzbekistan amounted to 280 kilograms. Last year, this indicator in the world reached an average of 538 kg per person per year. In China it amounted to 1,681 kg, in South Korea – 1,098 kg, Turkey - 998 kg, in Russia - 572 kg.
