Turkmenistan to look for new destinations from Turkmenbashi Seaport

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has ordered during the working meeting with the heads of the industrial and communication agencies to open new destinations from the Turkmenbashi International Seaport to other countries, Trend reports referring to the local Altyn Asyr TV channel.

Moreover, the management of the Turkmendenizderyayollary agency (Turkmen Seaways) was instructed to register freight shipment, their automatic loading and unloading in e-form in the sea port.

During the meeting it was also noted to strengthen cooperation in expanding the services which are rendered in the port to attract freight forwarders, increase the volumes of transit of goods, including big ones.

The instructions were made to obtain documents from International Organization of Qualification Societies and more effectively use the capabilities of the Balkan shipyard to construct and repair the ships.

The new port in Turkmenbashi opened in May 2018. The total throughput is about 17 million tons of cargo per year, excluding oil products, including 300,000 passengers, 75,000 trucks, 400,000 containers, three million tons of bulk cargo and four million tons of general cargo.

The Turkmenbashi Seaport renders all services in accordance with the international standards, such as refueling, loading and unloading of goods in open and closed storage facilities, packaging of goods, medical assistance, forwarding, fire safety, pilotage services, supervisorship and agent services.

It will be possible to store the goods without payment of customs duties up to three years and to store the goods free of charge from 30 to 45 days. Thus, there will be an opportunity to sell and ship the stored goods from the port in any direction - by vehicles, trains and ships.
