Iranian Oil Ministry’s airports may be handed over to Iran Airports Company

Nine airports owned by the Iranian Oil Ministry may be handed over to Iran Airports Company, said Deputy Director of the Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company Saeed Akbari, Trend reports referring to Mehr news agency.

Akbari said that discussions are underway in this regard.

The deputy director added that the Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company has a contract with one of the airports owned by the Iranian Oil Ministry.

“The Oil Ministry is interested in transferring the airports however, there are a number of problems in this regard,” Akbari noted.

The deputy director said that talks are underway with officials from the Iranian Oil Ministry to solve these problems.

Akbari noted that if the problems are resolved, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, the Cabinet of Ministers should make a decision in this regard, or a project should be prepared and approved in the parliament.

The Iranian Oil Ministry owns nine airports: Jam, Kangan, Kharg and Asalouyeh airports in Bushehr province, Sirri and Lavan airports in Hormozgan province, Masjed Soleiman and Aghajari airports in Khuzestan province and Gachsaran airport in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province.
