ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Dec. 12

By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Since the beginning of the year, 30,300 tons of road bitumen have been produced at an oil refinery in Seydi city in eastern Turkmenistan, 9,600 tons of which have been exported, Trend reports referring to the Turkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Concern.

By the end of the year, it is planned to increase this figure. The road bitumen produced at the plant is in great demand by the enterprises of the road construction sector, where high demands are placed on the quality of materials, the report said.

The new unit with annual capacity of 37,200 tons of road bitumen at this refinery was commissioned by the US Westport Trading Europe Limited company in 2015.

At this stage, the overhaul of the LCh-35-11/1000 catalytic reforming unit, designed to obtain the high-octane component used in the production of gasoline, has been completed.

Turkmenistan annually produces about 10 million tons of oil. The production is ensured by the Turkmennebit State Concern and companies from the UK, Malaysia and the UAE operating on the basis of production sharing agreements (PSA).

The main processing of raw materials is provided by a refinery in Turkmenbashi city.
