Salt production facility commissioned in western Turkmenistan

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Dec. 13

By Huseyn Hasanov – Trend:

A facility with the capacity of 40,000 tons of iodized edible salt and 2,500 tons of granulated technical salt per year was commissioned at the Guwlyduz plant in Turkmenbashi city of Turkmenistan’s Balkan region, Trend reports on Dec. 13 referring to the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.

Lake Duz ("Salt"), which is located on the Caspian Sea coast and is the country's biggest salt deposit, is the raw material base.

This production is environmentally friendly and non-waste as granular technical salt is made from salt dust which is accumulated after the production of high-quality iodized table salt.

Granular technical salt is widely used in the oil and gas, textile industries and others.

The new facility has been provided with equipment from the European EKOSOLT company.

The feasibility study for the project of salt production facility at the Guwlyduz plant was prepared by the staff of the Turkmen Academy of Sciences.
