BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 18
By Tamilla Mammadova – Trend:
Georgian government takes measures to develop a Rural Development Network, Trend reports citing Georgian media outlets.
They were discussed at the meeting of Georgian Rural Development Network (GRDN) meeting attended by First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Georgia Giorgi Khanishvili.
Over 50 representatives of the Georgian government, private sector and international organizations discussed the social network contribution to the rural development as well as the EU and Georgian practice at the meeting.
"The network will significantly contribute to the country's rural development. The government of Georgia made the first steps in terms of the improvement of the rural development policy," Khanishvili said.
The meeting participants also discussed the public and private sector cooperation and young people’s role in the successful business development and non-farming sector.
Special attention was paid to the social network development prospects.
The rural development network represents the EU-recognized practice implemented in all European countries.
GRDN envisages to follow the successful practice of Estonia and Finland’s similar networks. The social network will be created as an online platform and administered by the Agriculture Ministry.
The meeting was held with the support of EU and UNDP, in collaboration with Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and EU-financed ENPARD program.
ENPARD has been carried out since 2013 and will end in 2022. Its total budget is 179.5 million euro.
