The value of hazelnuts exported from Georgia in 11 months of 2019 amounted to $54.7 million, which is 8.6 percent more compared to the same period last year ($50.4 million), Trend reports referring to Georgian National Statistical Office (Geostat).
Reportedly, the value of the exported unpeeled hazelnuts was $6.2 million, while the value of dried hazelnuts exceeded $48.5 million.
Meanwhile, since 2017, due to damage caused by agricultural pests, the hazelnut crop, and, consequently, exports have declined sharply.
In 2018, hazelnut exports from Georgia amounted to $57.2 million, in 2017 - $82.3 million, in 2016 - $179.3 million, in 2015 - $176.2 million, and in 2014 - $183.3 million.
From January through November 2019, 10,879 tons hazelnuts were exported from Georgia, including 2,391 tons of unpeeled hazelnuts and 8,488 tons of dried hazelnuts.
