Georgia increases production in fields of agriculture, forestry and fish farming

BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 26

The volume of production in Georgia in the fields of agriculture, forestry and fish farming has increased, Georgian Farmers Association told Trend.

“In the first quarter of 2019, Georgia sold products of agriculture, forestry and fish farming worth 955 million lari ($334.1 million), which is eight million lari ($2.7 million) more compared to the same period last year,” the association said.

This indicator reached 1.43 billion lari ($500.3 million) in the second quarter of 2019 and 1.44 billion lari ($500.4 million) in the third quarter of 2019.

“About 13.1 percent of Georgia’s agriculture, forestry and fish farming products were supplied to Azerbaijan, 7.6 percent to Bulgaria, 6.6 percent to Ukraine,” the association said.

The remaining 59.3 percents fall on other countries.

According to the association, agriculture products worth $84,800 were exported to Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2019, and products worth $126,400 - in the second quarter this year.

“The leading agricultural sectors of Georgia in 2019 were animal husbandry, beekeeping, horticulture, vegetable growing, viticulture, grain farming, poultry farming, walnut farming, and tea production,” the Georgian Farmers Association emphasized.
