The markets of South Korea, China and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states are new export destinations for Iranian fishing products this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), Chairman of the Iran Fisheries Organization Nabiollah Khan-Mirzaei said, Trend reports referring to the organization’s website.
Khan-Mirzaei noted that Iranian and Chinese agriculture ministers signed an agreement on export of Iranian fishing products to China last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 21, 2019).
Also, a temporary preferential tariff memorandum between the EAEU and Iran is implemented this Iranian year, said the chairman.
As a result, the export of Iranian fishing products has increased, Khan-Mirzaei added.
The chairman said that last Iranian year, the value of Iran’s exports of fishing products exceeded $527 million and Iran’s positive balance in this area is more than $475 million.
Khan-Mirzaei noted that a total of 489,000 tons of sturgeon and other fish were caught last Iranian year.
“Production of these fish is expected to exceed 500,000 tons this Iranian year,” the chairman added.
