Some 1,500 buses will be imported for the capital of Iran – Tehran through the funds obtained as a result of oil export, head of the Tehran Bus Company Mahmud Tarafo said.

“Tehran Bus Company has held discussions on this issue with Iranian oil companies, local and foreign bus companies,” Tarafo added, Trend reports referring to IRNA.

“It is impossible to set the exact day of importing the buses to Iran because of the US sanctions imposed against Iran,” head of the company said.

"The mayor of Tehran emphasized that some electric buses will be imported," Tarafo said. “By the end of this Iranian year (March 21, 2020), a number of buses will be imported.”

"A lot of buses and minibuses will be imported next Iranian year," head of the company said.

The US imposed sanctions on Iran in November 2018 and expanded the list of sanctions in several stages. As a result of sanctions, Iran's oil export greatly decreased. The imposition of sanctions on Iran's banking system has led to the problems with the currency obtained as a result of export of products.
