Iran's visitors, vehicle traffic via Bileh Savar crossing up

The number of incoming tourists, who entered Iran via the Bileh Savar border crossing of the country's Ardabil province increased by 16 percent in the current Iranian year (began on March 21, 2019), so far, compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year, Director General of the Ardabil Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization Ali Rahmati told reporters, Trend reports via Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

During the reported period, over 1.3 million people crossed Bileh Savar border checkpoint, Rahmati said, adding that 91 percent of them were Azerbaijani citizens, while Iranian citizens accounted for the rest 9 percent.

Ali Rahmati noted that 249,584 people crossed the border in buses, minibuses and cars, while the number of those who crossed the border on foot slightly exceeded a million.

According to the director general, 3,799 buses crossed the Bileh Savar border, which indicates 84 percent increase.

Meanwhile, 19,546 cars crossed the Bileh Savar border, Ali Rahmati said, adding that 16 percent of the cars belonged to Iranian citizens, while 84 percent were owned by foreigners.

Moreover, 56,644 trucks crossed the Bileh Savar border checkpoint in the reported period, the director added.

Bileh Savar customs of Iran's Ardabil province is located on the Iran-Azerbaijan border and is the only customs of the province.
