Trade turnover in Baku increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 4

Trade turnover in Baku amounted to 22.2 billion manat ($13 billion) in 2019, having increased by 4.2 percent, compared to 2018, Trend reports referring to the Baku City Statistics Department.

In particular, compared to 2018, the prices of food products, drinks and tobacco products sold through Baku retail network increased by 0.8 percent and exceeded 10.5 billion manat ($6.2 billion).

Meanwhile, last year, the value of sold non-food products increased by 3.9 percent and exceeded 11.6 billion manat ($6.8 billion).

As much as 27.4 percent of consumer products were sold through legal entities in 2019, while 50.9 percent were sold in retail facilities owned by individual entrepreneurs.

Baku trading markets accounted for the remaining 21.7 percent.
