Iran bans sale of foreign goods at domestic fairs, exhibitions

TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.13

Supply of foreign goods to Iran's domestic exhibitions and fairs is prohibited and any violation would be confronted, said Spokesman of Market Regulation Headquarters Mohammad Reza Kalami, Trend reports via IRNA.

"There will be intense inspection and monitoring over markets and fairs that are supplying goods and commodities for the new Iranian year (starts March 21, 2020) holiday," said Kalami, Trend reports citing IRNA.

"Instructions have been issued to all chambers of guilds across the country to preserve the market stability and prevent possible abuse by intermediaries," he added.

Kalami also said that seven spring fairs are expected to be held in Tehran this year.

"The Ministry of Industry , Mine and Trade plans to supply goods and commodities with proper discount to all fairs across the country," he added.

Iran has previously banned import of 1,500 non-essential goods amid the US sanctions on its oil export.
