Total monetary value of the agricultural exports of Iran's East Azerbaijan province reached $310 million in the first 10 months (from March 21, 2019 to Jan. 20, 2020) of the current Iranian year, Director of East Azerbaijan Agricultural Jihad Organization Akbar Fathi told reporters, Trend reports via IRNA.
East Azerbaijan's agricultural exports increased by 46 percent, compared to the same period (from March 21 to Jan. 20, 2019) of the preceding Iranian year, Akbar Fathi said.
Exports of agricultural goods make the 13 percent share of the non-oil exports of East Azerbaijan's province, Akbar Fathi added.
Main export items were raisins, dairies, tomatoes, mushrooms, tomato paste, apple juice, onions, cucumbers, lettuce and cabbage, the director noted.
The land allocated for agricultural use covers an area of 1.2 million hectares in Iran's East Azerbaijan province and 440,000 hectares this land are around the Urmia lake.
