A land area of 238,000 hectares will be supplied with modern irrigation systems in the current Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), Executor of the modern irrigation systems project of the Iranian Agriculture Ministry Abbas Zare said at the 5th meeting of the Strategic Council of the project, Trend reports referring to the ministry's website.
Zare said that about 100,000 hectares of land area have been provided and 138,000 hectares are being provided with the modern irrigation systems.
“Last Iranian year (March 21, 2018 - March 21, 2019), 143,000 hectares of land area in Iran were provided with modern irrigation systems and put into operation,” the executor added.
The issues of improving the control and quality of the systems, the use of the potential of start-up companies and other issues were also discussed at the 5th meeting of the Strategic Council of the modern irrigation systems project.
Iran produces over 120 million tons of agricultural products per year.
