Turkey increases exports of citrus fruit to Georgia

Turkey exported 4,595 tons of citrus fruit totaling $2.1 million to Georgia in January 2020, Trend reports referring to the Georgian National Statistics Office (Geostat).

In an annual comparison, Turkey increased the export of citrus by 2,945 tons. Over the January 2019, 1,650 tons of citrus were exported from Turkey to Georgia for a total of $851,700.

In January 2020, Turkey exported 31 tons of medicaments put up in measured doses totaling $2.6 million to Georgia.

In an annual comparison, Turkey increased the export of medicaments put up in measured doses by 60 tons. Over the same period of 2019, 91 tons of medicaments were exported from Turkey to Georgia for a total of $4.5 million.

Turkey ranks first in Georgia’s commodity circulation.

In January 2020, total imports to Georgia from Turkey amounted to $97.2 million. In turn, Georgia exported goods worth $19.8 million to Turkey.

The foreign trade turnover of Georgia with Turkey in January 2020 exceeded $117 million, which is 13.3 percent of the total trade turnover of Georgia.

In January 2020 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to $882.5 million, 5.7 percent higher compared to the same month of 2019.

As reported, the exports equaled $262.6 million (10 percent higher), while the imports stood at $619.8 million (4 percent higher). The negative trade balance was $357.2 million.
