Export of products via Iran's West Azerbaijan Province up in value

Exports of products from Iran's West Azerbaijan Province during the 11 months of the current year (March 21, 2019 through February 19, 2020) increased by 44 percent in value compared to the same period last year, said Gholamreza Babaei, chairman of the West Azerbaijan province Industry, Mine and Trade Organization, Trend reports citing Organization's website.

According to Babaei, 1.2 million tons worth of goods worth $1.72 billion were exported through customs and border markets.

Among the exported products were: apples worth $135 million, engine oil worth $123 million, as well as watermelons, various fruit juices, household items, carpets, polyethylene, marble stones and more.

The official said that during the same period, 552,900 tons of goods worth more than $790 million were imported through customs and border markets of the Western Azerbaijan region.

Babaei said that compared to the same period last year, imports of goods increased by 44 percent in value.

"Imported products were mainly artificial fibers, car spare parts, tires for cars and trucks, elevator spare parts and meat," he said.

Iran has 9 customs and 6 border markets in the Western Azerbaijan province.
