Producer Price Index for Industrial Products decreases in Georgia

Producer Price Index for Industrial Products (PPI) decreased by 0.3 percent in February 2020 in Georgia compared to January 2020, Trend reports via the National Statistics Office of Georgia.

As reported, in February 2020, the prices for manufactured products decreased by 0.4 percent compared to the previous month, resulting in a -0.32 percentage point contribution to the overall monthly PPI change.

Within the group noteworthy price decrease was registered for beverages (-1.3 percent) and for basic metals (-1.7 percent).

Meanwhile, in February 2020 compared to February 2019 the index growth amounted to 6.7 percent.

The annual PPI rate was mainly affected by price changes for the manufactured products: the prices increased by 7 percent, contributing 5.71 percentage points to the overall annual index growth. There was an increase in the prices for food products (12.6 percent).

The prices on products from mining and quarrying increased by 19.7 percent, contributing 1.24 percentage points to the overall annual index growth.

The prices on electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning decreased by 2.4 percent with a relevant contribution of -0.26 percentage points on the annual index change.
