Exports of products increases through customs of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province

Exports of products increased by 68 percent in term of value in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020) through customs of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province in northwestern Iran, compared to the preceding year (from March 21, 2018 to March 21, 2019), said Customs Inspector of East Azerbaijan and Director General of Tabriz Customs Administration Leyli Orangi, Trend reports citing Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).

According to Orangi, as many as 2.5 million tons of products worth 132 trillion rials (about $854 million at the SANA exchange rate) were exported through the province's customs.

Orangi added that this is an increase of 19 percent in term of weight compared to the preceding year. Most of the non-oil products among the customs of the East Azerbaijan province were exported through customs of Tabriz last Iranian year.

The official said that 513,000 tons of products worth 48.2 trillion rials (about $311 million at the SANA exchange rate) were imported through the province's customs last Iranian year.

"Product imports increased by 63 percent in term of value and 18 percent in term of weight compared to the preceding year," he said.

Orangi said that 11,800 tons of products worth 997 billion rials (about $6.4 million at the SANA exchange rate) were exported through the province's customs in the form of portfolio trade last Iranian year.

This is an increase of 14 percent in term of weight and 86 percent in term of value compared to the preceding year.

About 516,000 tons of products worth $1.2 billion entered to Iran through the province's customs through transit last Iranian year. Product transit increased by 21 percent in term of weight and 3 percent in term of value,” he said.

According to the official, 800,000 tons products worth $1.5 billion left the country through the province's customs for transit last Iranian year. This is an increase of 12 percent in term of weight and 27 percent in term of value compared to the preceding year.

The official added that customs revenues of province was 6.89 trillion rials (about $44.4 million at the SANA exchange rate) and this is an increase of 14 percent compared to the preceding year.

There are several exchange rates related to foreign currencies in Iran. According to the exchange rate announced by the Central Bank of Iran for banks and exchange offices (SANA), today 1 dollar is about 155,000 rials.
