Kazakhstan to introduce restrictions on cattle export

Kazakhstan has introduced restrictions on export of live cattle from the country, Trend reports with reference to the published decree of Kazakhstan’s Ministers of Agriculture and of Finance.

Thus, the decree said that the prohibition on export of live cattle, sheep and goats will be relevant for six months. The prohibition will enter into force 10 days after decree signing (Apr. 15, 2020).

On Apr. 26, 2020 Kazakhstan will also prohibit import of some types of cement from countries outside the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). The list of cement goods prohibited for import includes cement clinkers, Portland cement, other types of Portland cement, alumina cement, other hydraulic cements.

Earlier this month Kazakhstan has also zeroed import duties on goods necessary for the livelihoods of the population of the member states of the EAEU.

The ministry said that duties were zeroed on import of potatoes, onions, garlic, cabbage, carrots, peppers, rye, long-grain rice and buckwheat.

The list also includes ready-made food products for children, the basics for the production of breast milk substitutes, juices for children, medicine and raw materials for its production, medical items and medical equipment necessary for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

The value of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and other countries of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) amounted to $2.9 billion over the course from Jan. through Feb. 2020, which is 4 .4 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.

Some $818.3 million of the figure account for export (decrease of 6.4 percent), whereas $2.1 billion account for import (increase of 9.3 percent).
