Uzbekistan boosts melons production

A large greenhouse for growing melon crops in Uchkuduk district of Navoi region in Uzbekistan is under construction on the area of two hectares, Trend reports citing Uzbek media.

The project costs $500,000, and $400,000 is provided via a credit line from the Asian Development Bank. The project is being implemented by Uzbek Garant Uchquduq LLC company, together with its Chinese partner - Ningbo Zhao company.

The project is scheduled to be completed in early autumn of 2020.

Uzbekistan approved a list of enterprises that will be able to supply melons to various markets, in particular, to China. According to the protocol signed between Uzbekistan and China, a list of enterprises that can export melon crops was prepared and handed over to the Chinese customs.

Earlier, Chinese specialists came to Uzbekistan to inspect the recommended fields and check their phytosanitary condition. After the necessary inspections, the Chinese side presented a list of melon plantations that meet the country’s requirements.
