Kazakhstan zeroes export duties on aluminum-scandium ligatures

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 28

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan will apply zero customs duties on export of aluminum-scandium ligatures, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Trade and Integration.

The ministry said that rates have been applied starting from April 27, 2020.

“The decision was made at the request of MAST LLP company, which is the only manufacturer of high-tech aluminum master alloys in Kazakhstan, i.e. of aluminum-scandium alloys. These goods are export-oriented and are used mainly in the aerospace industry,” the ministry said.

The report said that reducing the export customs duty rate from 12 to 0 percent will provide the company with an opportunity to increase production output from 35 tons to 120 tons per year, as well as to increase export to third countries.

The ministry also noted that MAST LLP currently provides up to 50 jobs at the Stepnogorsk industrial zone and, on condition of constraining development factors absence, is ready to provide work for up to 200 people.

“Given the priority of supporting export-oriented goods, we have set zero export customs duties,” Kazakhstan’s Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov said.

Earlier this month Kazakhstan has also zeroed import duties on goods necessary for the livelihoods of the population of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

The ministry said that duties were zeroed on import of potatoes, onions, garlic, cabbage, carrots, peppers, rye, long-grain rice and buckwheat.

The list also includes ready-made food products for children, the basics for the production of breast milk substitutes, juices for children, medicine and raw materials for its production, medical items and medical equipment necessary for the prevention and treatment of COVID-19.

The value of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and other countries of Eurasian Economic Union amounted to $2.4 9 billion over the course from Jan. through Feb. 2020, which is 4 .4 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.

Some $818.3 million of the figure account for export (decrease of 6.4 percent), whereas $2.1 billion account for import (increase of 9.3 percent).
