Branch of Kazakhstan’s Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC - the Krasno-Oktyabrskoye mining unit – are preparing for commissioning of new mine pits, Trend reports with reference to the parent company of Aluminium of Kazakhstan JSC - Eurasian Resources Group (ERG).
The Krasno-Oktyabrskoye mining unit is the main source of bauxite raw materials for alumina production in Kazakhstan. Altogether, together with other branches of Aluminum of Kazakhstan JSC there are four open pits: two at the Ayat and at the Krasnogorsk mines each.
“Recently, one of the first the Krasno-Oktyabrskoye mining unit mines, Belinsky mine, where mining has been conducted for more than 40 years, was completely developed,” the ERG said.
This year two quarries will be launched at the Krasno-Oktyabrskoye mining unit. The expected operation period of one of them is 20 years. Exploration work has shown that its bauxite reserves reach 26 million tons. The second mine will be completely developed by 2031. Bauxite reserves of the second quarry exceed 11.5 million tons.
In turn, the company’s Pavlodar Alumina Plant is conducting continuous production processes that are aimed at achieving an annual alumina production plan. The 2020 alumina production plan is 1.4 million tons. Over 331 tons of alumina already were produced in 1Q2020. The bauxite mining plan for the current year is over 4,000 tons. The bauxite mining in 1Q2020 reached 844,000 tons.
Earlier this month, ERG has decided to shut down its Torgai Bauxite Mine operations for three months.
The company said that the decision was due to the fact that COVID-19 pandemic significantly affected global economy, including metals market.
