Iran discloses value of dairy products exported from Zanjan province

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 3

Around $4.92 million worth milk and dairy products were exported from Zanjan province in northwestern Iran in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020), said Director of the Zanjan Province Agriculture Department Javad Tarasi, Trend reports citing the department’s website.

According to Tarasi, last year, 3,350 tons of sour cream, buttermilk, yogurt and cheese were exported.

Tarasi added that the products were mainly exported to Iraq, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait.

"It is hoped that there will be an increase in the province’s dairy products’ exports in the current year (starting from March 20, 2020)," he said.

The official said that in general, more than 165,000 tons of dairy products are produced annually in Zanjan province. About 121,000 tons of it are consumed in the province, and 26 percent are sent to other provinces.

Tarasi said that there are currently 125 farms in the province. Some 50 of them are fully operational and the rest are incomplete. Some of them are inactive.
