Secondary cars registration declines in Kazakhstan

Total number of vehicles registered in Kazakhstan over the period from Jan. through Apr. 2020 amounted to 318,438 vehicles, which is 29.7 percent less compared to the same period of 2019, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s association of automobile business ventures.

Some 296,571 vehicles accounted for secondary registration, which is 30.4 percent less compared to the same period last year. The cars which were registered for the first time amounted to 21,867 vehicles, which is 19.7 percent less than in 2019.

The number of vehicles registered in Apr. 2020 amounted to 3,329 vehicles, which is 38.8 times less than in Apr. 2019. Some 3,055 of them were registered on the secondary market (39.4 times less than in Apr. 2019).

Eleven electric cars were registered in Kazakhstan since the start of 2020, which corresponds to the number registered last year.

Over two thirds of the vehicles registered on the secondary market were cars over 10 years old.

The majority of the cars registered on the secondary market accounted for Almaty region (46,813 vehicles), Almaty city (36,532) and Turkestan region (28,900).

Residents of Almaty region also registered the majority of vehicles over 20 years old (27.693). Almaty region’s residents are followed by those of Turkestan region (14,060) and Zhambyl region (12,076).

The majority of the cars less than 3 years old were registered in Almaty city (2,685 vehicles), Nur-Sultan (1,804) and Shymkent cities (1,234).
