Value of imports to Iran decreases

Iran imported 2.52 million tons of products worth $1.93 billion in the first month of the current Iranian year (March 20-April 19, 2020), Trend reports referring to the website of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.

According to the report, the import increased by 21 percent in terms of weight and decreased by 17 percent in terms of value compared to the same month last Iranian year. About 2.08 million tons of products worth $2.33 billion were imported in the same period last Iranian year.

“Iran imported $399 million worth of products from China. The China's share in Iran's imports was 20.6 percent and this is a decrease of 8.1 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year,” the report said.

According to the chamber of commerce, Iran imported $394 million worth of products from the United Arab Emirates. The share of the UAE in Iran's imports amounted to 20.4 percent, which is a decrease of 13.9 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.

Iran imported $246 million worth of products from Turkey in the first month of current Iranian year. The share of the Turkey in Iran's imports amounted to 12.8 percent, showing a decrease of 27.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.

“Iran exported $164 million worth of products from India. The share of the India in Iran's imports amounted to 8.5 percent and this is a decrease of 49.2 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year,” the report.

According to the report, Iran imported $108 million worth of products from the Netherlands in the first month of current Iranian year. The share of the Netherlands in Iran's imports amounted to 5.6 percent and this is a decrease of 16.3 percent compared to the same month last Iranian year.

Iran's foreign trade turnover exceeded $3.58 billion in the first month.
