Turkmenistan will purchase two freight and passenger locomotives from Russia’s Transmashholding Closed Joint Stock Company, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal Information Portal.
Officials of the Turkmen Railways came to this decision after analyzing the technical characteristics of leading foreign manufacturers of rolling stock for rail transport.
Meanwhile, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that one of the priority directions of Turkmenistan’s industry development strategy is to modernize and increase the material and technical base of railway transport, as well as to improve the quality of provided services.
The head of state also highlighted the fruitful nature of the country's cooperation with Russian companies that supply modern equipment to Turkmenistan.
The purchased railway equipment must benefit the weather and climate conditions of Turkmenistan, said the president.
One of the main goals of Transmashholding is to provide its partners and customers with modern, highly efficient rolling stock. The company also considers creating comfortable conditions for passengers, for fast and uninterrupted cargo delivery, and decent working conditions for railway and metro employees as priority areas.
