Uzbekistan plans to start production of glycyrrhizic acid

The Council of Ministers of Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic held talks with the President of Cokey Systems Co. Ltd., Yoshida Hiroshi, Trend reports citing Dunyo News Agency.

The online event provided information on comprehensive measures being taken in Uzbekistan to combat coronavirus infection, including support for economic sectors. The importance of ensuring timely and accelerated implementation of plans for investment projects, despite the situation with coronavirus, was emphasized.

The sides discussed issues related to the development of land allotted for the cultivation of licorice root, modernization of equipment at the created enterprise, as well as the increase in exports of finished products.

The president of Cokey Systems Co. Ltd reiterated the interest of Japanese company in further developing cooperation with Uzbekistan and expanding the existing production capacities at the newly established enterprise. In particular, he noted that the company has already shipped modern laboratory equipment, which will allow for further deepening of licorice root processing.

As a result of negotiations, the sides agreed to take practical measures on all discussed issues and further deepen the mutually advantageous cooperation.

In 2018, the government of Uzbekistan adopted a special decision envisaging the establishment of licorice plantations in the include Uzbekistan's Karakalpakstan Autonomous Republic, increasing their area to 25,000 hectares, exemption from payment of various fees, taxes and customs duties.
