Iran plans to allocate 7,100 hectares of land for greenhouses in the current Iranian year (began March 20,2020), said Agriculture Minister of Iran Kazem Khavazi, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The plans include 2,500 hectares for new greenhouses, as well as development of 4,600 hectares of land for further use," he said.

The official made the remark during an inauguration of a 1oo-hectare greenhouse in Shirvan County in Khorasan Province.

"Development of greenhouse cultivation is a priority of the ministry, and so far, since 2013 the government has created greenhouses on 18,800 hectares across the country," he said.

"Establishing green houses will increase production, export and employment," he added.

"Greenhouse cultivation had developed in the North Khorasan Province in the last Iranian year (began March 21,2019) and there will be more cities with greenhouses in the current year (began March 20,2020)," he said.
