In Georgia, harvesting of cherries has been intensified, while supply growth has led to a significant reduction in prices, Trend reports citing EastFruit portal.

As reported, to date, prices for cherries in the agricultural markets start at 3 lari ($1.1), for selected fruits - from 12 lari ($3.8). Currently, mainly sweet cherry from the Kakheti region (Eastern Georgia) is entering the markets.

Cherry harvesting in Georgia began from May 10-15 - in the Imereti region (Western Georgia). From June 5, sweet cherry harvesting will begin in the Kvemo Kartli region (Eastern Georgia), and from June 15-20 - in the Shida Kartli region (Eastern Georgia), which is the main supplier of sweet cherry to the Georgian market. The end of the main cherry season in Georgia this year is expected in mid-July.
