Turkmenistan and Russia have identified measures to activate cooperation in the construction sector, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The issue was discussed during online talks between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Chairman of the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg Evgeny Grigoriev. The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Industry and Construction of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The sides discussed issues of bilateral Turkmen-Russian cooperation, as well as Turkmenistan’s active interaction with Russia’s regions.
During the working visit of the Minister of Industry and Construction of Turkmenistan Berdimuhamedov to Saint Petersburg in February 2020, the Turkmen side got acquainted with the activities of a number of industrial enterprises and construction companies in the region, where some bilateral documents also were signed.
The next steps of mutually beneficial partnership were determined by Road Map document – a plan of joint actions between Saint Petersburg and Turkmenistan from 2020 up to 2025, which was signed during the visit of the Russian delegation headed by the Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov to Turkmenistan in February, 2020.
The companies from Saint Petersburg work in Turkmenistan in such areas as the design and construction of road transport infrastructure, fire protection structures, including developing partnerships in the field of industry, shipbuilding, technology and innovation.
The need to intensify international scientific cooperation in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic was noted. For this purpose, the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to create a council of medical scientists in order to popularize effective mechanisms of scientific diplomacy was announced.
