Georgia, Romania eye to boost cooperation opportunities in Black Sea region

As of March 1, 2020, the volume of trade between Romania and Georgia reached $23.39 million, Embassy of Romania to Georgia told Trend.

According to the embassy, of this, Romanian export to Georgia represented $19.20 million, while import from Georgia to Romania was $4.19 million.

"At bilateral level, our efforts aimed at increasing the economic cooperation and trade exchanges have already started to produce results, as we witness an increase in the volume of Romanian-Georgian commerce," embassy of Romania to Georgia emphasized.

As the embassy noted, although Romania is one of Georgia's main trading partners within the European Union (EU), the commercial exchanges between Romania and Georgia are still not fully reflecting the potential of the two economies.

"We are prepared to develop further the agenda of our bilateral economic relations, with a view to boosting the potential cooperation opportunities in the Black Sea region. We attach special importance to the maritime connections of Constanta port with Georgia’s ports, as a basis for increasing and diversifying our economic cooperation," embassy of Romania to Georgia added.

The diplomatic relations between Romania and Georgia were established on 25 June 1992. The Embassy of Romania in Tbilisi being inaugurated on 25 February, 1998.
