Canadian B2Gold to implement investment project in Uzbekistan

Representatives of Uzbekistan held a videoconference with vice-presidents of Canadian B2Gold Corporation Neil Reeder and Tom Garagan, Trend reports citing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The Canadian company entered Uzbek market for the first time in 2018, completed its investment projects in Uzbekistan ahead of schedule in 2019 with the total volume of $2.2 million.

The meeting discussed implementing investment projects of B2Gold in Uzbekistan's Navoi region, a well as further expansion of cooperation on attracting investments of a number of large Canadian companies into Uzbek economy was discussed.

The Uzbek side noted its attention to the mining sector, adding that over the past three years allocations from the budget to this sphere have grown, some equipment used in the sphere was renewed, as well as advanced technology was implemented.

Uzbekistan launched the first in Central Asia modern aero-geophysical complex in 2019.

Neil Reeder welcomed comprehensive measures being implemented in the country to reform the mining industry and provide new opportunities for foreign investors. According to him, the Canadian company is interested in further expanding its presence in Uzbekistan.

During the talks, Canadian side noted that the territory of Uzbekistan has not been fully explored yet, and the country has a huge stock of potential opportunities for the development of Uzbek-Canadian cooperation in this direction.

B2Gold Corporation is a Canadian public gold-mining company based in Vancouver, British Columbia. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has five operating gold mines and numerous exploration and development projects in various countries including Nicaragua, the Philippines, Namibia, Mali, Burkina Faso and Colombia.
