Kazakhstan taking measures to support IT companies entering global market

Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry is planning to support 30 Kazakh IT companies in their plans to enter international market, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry Askar Zhumagaliyev said, Trend reports with reference to the Central Communications Service under Kazakhstan’s president.

Zhumagaliyev made the statement during a press briefing held on Jun. 11, 2020.

He said one of the tasks of the state program Digital Kazakhstan is to support the IT industry in the country. For this purpose, a roadmap for development of the IT industry was approved.

The minister added that about 7,000 companies are currently present at the local Kazakh IT market.

“The ministry selected 30 companies that showed high potential for entering the international market. Currently, the issue of offering support is being worked out,” he said.

The minister also talked ventures modernization in Kazakhstan.

“One of the important areas of work of Digital Kazakhstan state program is the digitalization of economic sectors. That is why the state should help those who want to modernize,” he said.

Zhumagaliyev noted that the modernization of enterprises is a rather expensive project.

“But ultimately, the modernization will lead to increased productivity and competitiveness. For example, projects are underway in the fuel and energy complex to create 17 ‘intellectual fields’, and digital technologies are being introduced at two oil refineries,” he said.

He added that digitalization projects are also underway at 13 backbone ventures and 112 industrial ventures, and the work is carried out to create 7 model digital factories. Forty-nine digital farms have been created, including 28 crop farms and 21 livestock farms.
