By Elnur Baghishov –Trend:

Iran's border customs with Turkmenistan still remain closed, Governor of Golestan Province Hadi Haghshenas told Trend.

The governor added that discussions with Turkmenistan on the subject are underway.

Haghshenas stressed that disinfection facilities and devices have also been prepared to be deployed at all border customs between Iran and Turkmenistan.

However, the Turkmenistan side do not allow the opening of border customs, said the official.

"As a result, products have not been exported through Iran's Golestan Province for several months," he said.

Iran continues to monitor the coronavirus situation in the country. According to recent reports from the Iranian officials, over 195,000 people have been infected, and 9,185 people have already died. Meanwhile, over 154,800 have reportedly recovered from the disease.

The country continues to apply strict measures to contain the further spread. Reportedly, the disease was brought to Iran by a businessman from Iran's Qom city, who went on a business trip to China, despite official warnings. The man died later from the disease.

The Islamic Republic only announced its first infections and deaths from the coronavirus on Feb. 19.

Due to the spread of the coronavirus in Iran, neighboring countries have imposed a number of restrictions on customs borders. Later, a number of countries have eased restrictions to some extent.
